Jeff grew up in Trinity, Alabama and was saved at the age of ten. After graduating from the University of Alabama in 1985, with a Bachelor of Science degree from the School of Commerce and Business Administration, he began a career in consumer lending. In 1989 Jeff was led to Decatur Baptist Church by an article in The Decatur Daily highlighting a missions trip Bro. Doug had led to the Philippines .

Jeff joined DBC in 1990 and in 1991 he accepted the position of Business Administrator. He is in charge of all financial and office operations of the church. He also has been serving in the Children's Ministry of DBC as a teacher in Upstreet Bible Study for the past fifteen years. Jeff also coordinates a class called Financial Peace University , which helps people maintain control of their personal finances by using and applying biblically-based principles. In 1999 Jeff received a Master of Business Administration degree from Louisiana Baptist University .

Jeff and his wife Terri have been married for fourteen years and have two children – Andrew who is twelve and Timothy who is six. Andrew is a seventh grader at Cedar Ridge Middle School and plays trumpet in the Cedar Ridge band. Timothy is a first grader at Chestnut Grove Elementary and loves to play video games. Terri has been serving in the AWANA ministry for seventeen years and is currently the AWANA Commander for DBC. Both Jeff and Terri enjoy being a part of the DBC music ministry with Jeff singing in the choir and Terri playing flute and oboe in the orchestra.
