Larry was saved as a child, surrendered to the call of God to vocational ministry in 1970, was licensed to preach in 1972 and ordained in 1976. He has ministered in churches in Oklahoma, Texas, Ohio, Illinois and New York, before moving to Alabama, serving in every capacity of church work including Senior Pastor.
Larry and Cheryl Waye joined the Decatur Baptist Church pastoral staff in 2005, relocating from Rochester, NY where Larry had ministered for 22 years at the First Bible Baptist Church.
At Decatur Baptist Larry served as Pastor of Adult Ministries for 5 ½ years before leaving the staff under the Lord’s leadership to minister to the community at large through the Decatur Morgan County Entrepreneurial Center, a non-profit economic development organization he and 5 other men started. During the 9 years of his tenure as Founder, Executive Director and Director of Business Development and Education the E-Center helped 110 companies create 457 new jobs which generate more than $10 million dollars in new annual payroll revenue in Morgan County.
Currently Larry serves as the Pastor of Spiritual Development at Decatur Baptist Church and speaks regularly at leadership events, businesses, churches and civic clubs as the Lord gives opportunity. Larry loves life and desires to encourage, enthuse and inspire those around him to love the Life Giver and the life He gives. (I Pet 3:10-12a).
He and his wife Cheryl enjoy golf, cycling and traveling to visit their 6 grandchildren in Rochester, NY area.
