Estate Planning

Estate Planning is also called Legacy Planning, because we are leaving behind instructions on how to take care of our most prized possessions to our children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, spouses, other family members, and ministries such as our church and missions organizations.  We want to be a blessing to them all, but in order to do that, most of us need help.

That’s where we come in.  Through the Alabama Baptist Foundation, Decatur Baptist has been able to offer to our members FREE* Estate Planning or Legacy Planning.  We use the services of PhilanthroCorp to help each family determine how you want those prized possessions used at your death.  They will guide you in making your final decision of how you want your accumulated wealth to be used in a Christ-centered way to bless those you love so much.

So please, take advantage of this opportunity today and experience the assurance that at your death, those individuals and ministries that you love are taken care of.

I love you,
Bro. Doug

P.S.  Please watch the interviews of the Hadens and the Vaughns below.  Also, we have a 50-minute video from Dave Keesling that can be a help to you.

* You only pay for the attorney to create your documents to make them legal and enforceable in Alabama.

PhilanthroCorp Estate Planning Firm

PhilanthroCorp experiences from members of our church family in their own words…

“We talked about getting our wills done for years.  ‘Who would do that for us?’ and ‘What do we actually need?’ were some of our unanswered questions which made it difficult to actually begin.  Decatur Baptist Church invited us to a PhilanthroCorp seminar held at the church.  This made it easy to attend.  Everyone was awesome at PhilanthroCorp.  Their professional team helped us keep our project on target.  Phone appointments were set and kept.  Kind nudges were given to remind us to make that next appointment or remind us to work on some homework items as we developed our documents with Matt, our professional Estate Specialist.  We have peace of mind.  It’s good to finally have our planning finished.   The process was so simple and straight forward.  We would recommend PhilanthroCorp to everyone.”

“We did not have a will and estate plan in place but knew that it was something that we should do. It was easy to put it off—we didn’t know where to start, who to talk with and what the cost might be.Knowing that our church was offering this opportunity through the services of PhilanthroCorp, and we trusted the pastor and the church leadership, the time was right to take action. At first, we were a little leery about doing this over the phone—we thought you had to be face to face to understand it properly.During the first call, we quickly felt at ease and comfortable with the process.Working by phone was incredibly convenient.Everyone was so easy to work with and we thought through things that we never considered. Our documents will help eliminate family stress and discontent when we are called home to be with the Lord.”

“When Decatur Baptist was offered the opportunity to partner with PhilanthroCorp, it gave my wife and me the opportunity to address our wills, which we had been putting off.  As we began the process, the people of PhilanthroCorp had the experience and knowledge to answer all of our questions and make the whole process as simple and painless as possible.  The telephone conference calls were professionally handled and our Estate Planner was excellent.  We could not be more pleased with the final results, and both of us now are at peace with the knowledge that all the decisions that need to be made are now done.”

“It was important for us to have our child’s future secured financially, spiritually and emotionally.  Knowing that PhilanthroCorp is a Christian organization and that our church put their stamp of approval on them was good enough for us.”

“Having a will took on a renewed importance when our daughter was born.  In addition to taking care of our family, one of the things that was really comforting to look at was how our legacies could be used to further the ministries and missions that are important to us.”

Stewardship and Estate Planning

Estate planning may be the most important act of stewardship any of us will ever undertake.  It is, at its core, the process of determining to whom we should transfer the stewardship of all that has been entrusted to us when we are called to step into eternity.

Decatur Baptist Church of Decatur, AL has partnered with PhilanthroCorp, a trusted estate-planning firm, to help you put together an estate plan that accomplishes your goals.  Since 1997, PhilanthroCorp has served hundreds of the most respected faith-based organizations and thousands of their supporters.  There is no cost to you for their assistance.

Personalized Assistance

The PhilanthroCorp team will guide you gently through a discovery process that will consider your assets, the people and the ministries that are dependent upon you.

They will help you:

  • Understand such issues as probate and taxes
  • Address tools such as wills, trusts, powers of attorney and advance medical directives
  • Develop an estate plan that reflects your values and priorities
  •  Implement the plant through an attorney you already know or one from their network of attorneys, offering preferential rates.

Once your documents are in place, they will further help you to make sure instructions are in place to make everything easier for loved ones.

How to Get Started:

To learn more about the estate-planning process, you can watch the video from Dave Keesling that we recorded when he was here at Decatur Baptist back in March.  In this 50-minute video, you will learn what estate planning is and why it is so important.

You can also contact Jeff Gilliam by calling the church office at 256-353-8579 or by email, jeffgilliam@decaturbaptist.org.  Jeff will walk you through the steps and will help you get in contact with a PhilanthroCorp Estate Specialist.
